Ian: do you plug the hmdi to the monitor through a dvi adapter or you have a hdmi input at the monitor? it works fine for us with a dvi adapter.. you might want to read through the guide again to see if you have the same setup.
it’s also possible it doesn’t work for newer xboxes…

thanks for the instruction. the hdmi cable + composite cable fits perfectly now together. i have a problem though. my monitor displays “no signal” when both are plugged although i hear the xbox startup sound. when i unplug the composite cable the display returns. need help pls. dont want to play with no sound no more

Thank you so much for the valuable information! however, your guide is far more complex then it turned out to be. I simply stuck thin plyers into the small opening and pulled off the plastic with ease. Now I can have great audio and 1080p video. All thanks to you sir.

So basically you want to connect HDMI (xbox) to DVI (monitor) and the xbox-properiety-composite-connector to speakers with the red/white cinch connectors?
If yes, that works fine for me. See if your connector is not losing contact (have you trimmed the composite connector’s rubber enough?).

Sorry hit the submit by accident… as i was saying I have plugged in the xbox to my computer monitor, and of course no sound, i expected that. When i plug in the xbox av cable to the other port the monitor goes blank and says no signal. Is there any way the xbox will work using the HDMIxDVI cable for video and the red and white cords for audio. Thanks for your help.
